Artists Express the Colours of the Soul

WS Weekly, October 2010

Artists Shannon Hamilton and Rob Forlani will display vibrant new works in a joint exhibition -SOUL- at Fusion Fine Arts inside Mandurah Ocean Marina.

The pair were of a group show of Australian Artists in New York in 2005.

Since then, the pair have continued to carve out international reputations.

Forlani has shown in work in San Francisco and Stockholm, while Hamilton has held sell out exhibitions in Singapore.

Hamilton's oils on canvas feature strong, bold strokes of colour, capturing the essence of the human form in the luminosity of Australian sunlight.

Now one of Perth's most highly regarded artists, she is renowned for capturing the essence of a favourite Australian past-time, evoking nostalgic memories of beach holidays and kindred spirits.

"I'm fascinated how we deal with the highs and lows of parenthood and the emotional bonds we have with our family," the mother- of- three said.

"In recent years, my personal experience has led me to focus mainly on the bond between parents and their children because this is what i live and breathe every day."

Hamilton, who also owns and runs the popular Mooba cafes in Wembley and Subiaco, recently spent time with media identity Tina Altieri who will launch the exhibition.

Hamilton captured the bond between Altieri and her son Jackson on canvas.

Forlani's use of symbolism in his bold and tactile abstract creations contrast strikingly with Hamilton's figurative paintings. The exhibit runs from September 30-October 17, 2010.
