Intimate Liaisons at Jah Roc Gallery

LOCAL artist Shannon Hamilton will treat West Australians to a rare local exhibition, when Intimate Liaisons features at Jah Roc Gallery in Margaret River this month.

Intimate Liaisons will open this Saturday, March 4 and will see Shannon return to WA from a long list of International and interstate exhibitions in New York, Singapore, Melbourne and Sydney.

“I’m looking forward to sharing my work with West Australians again, although due to other upcoming exhibitions it’ll probably be the last chance I get for another few years,” she said.

Intimate Liaisons is a reflection of Shannon’s experiences as a new mother and has strong international themes stemming from her recent overseas travel, particularly in Vietnam.

“Each painting emphasizes the relationship between mother and child, which I have always had a special affinity with, even prior to the birth of my son Xavier who is now 15 months.

“Motherhood carries a rollercoaster of emotions-and can be exhausting, overwhelming and pure joy.”

“I have aimed to capture some of the positive feelings of protectiveness, wonder and love in an intensity unique to this relationship,” said Shannon.

Subjects for the exhibition range from hill tribe children in Vietnam to kids on our beaches at home in Western Australia.

Shannon’s paintings feature strong, bold strokes of colour, tastefully capturing the beauty of the human form.

Intimate Liaisons runs from Saturday, March 4 to Sunday, March 19 at Jah Roc Gallery, 83 Bussell Highway, Margaret River.
